The Sun Koshi River is famous in rafting
circles, and with good reason. This is a once-in-a-lifetime
experience… particularly during high
waters, when the rapids can swell to massive
sizes, sometimes making the rafts completely
disappear from sight. Gathering strength from
tributaries draining the highest mountains
in the world the white water on the Sun
Kosi is legendary, even expedition-size
rafts disappear into the vastness of crashing
waves and cascading, boiling water.

|
This is one of the10 most
exciting white water rafting destinations in the world, roaring
past remote villages and green fertile mountains covered with
forests and rice terraces, where local inhabitants can be
seen in their daily rural activities. The beginning of the
trip sees high mountains, open valley, forests and small remote
villages. The final days bring you to open plains and the
thriving village of Chatara. After the monsoon
the river is high and wild, and definitely not for the faint-hearted.
Whipped foamy white where narrow gorges constrict
the river’s flow. The warm waters of the Sun
Kosi surge snake and wind for 270 km to the east
of Nepal.
This is an ideal trip for those wanting to
combine peaceful stretches of stunning scenery,
some challenging rapids and the experience of a lengthy
trip where lifelong friendships can often begin
