Mera Peak (6,476m/21,247ft) is high enough to be seriously challenging but does not require serious mountaineering skills being one of the least demanding peaks of this altitude. Let Himalayan Glacier guide you to the summit of this popular peak; neck high to the famous Himalayan giants. This peak rises to the South of Everest and dominates the beautiful and remote valleys of Hinku and Hunku. The ascent to this peak is made from the Mera La pass (5,415m/17,766ft) on the Northern Face, which connects the unpopulated valley of Hunku to the Hinku valley. The late Jimmy Roberts and Sen Tensing were the first climbers to conquer Mera Peak following this very route on 20th May 1953.

After two days rock climbing in Kathmandu you will take a short flight from Kathmandu to Lukla. The trek begins in Lukla, through fascinating Sherpa Villages to Mera Base Camp (5,099m/16,729ft) situated at the base of an immense glacier leading to the Mera La Pass. As the ascent continues two more High Base Camps are set up at 5,385m/17,667ft (a little below Mera La) and a higher one at 5,750m/18,865ft from where the summit ascent can be attempted. Mera has two distinct summits, the main one being the Northern Summit (6,476m/21,247ft), which is reached by skirting the Central Summit (6,461m/21,198ft) and following a classic snow ridge to the top. Even though the climb is technically straightforward, there are some crevasses to maneuver and the route can be long and demanding after a fresh snowfall. The climb from Mera La to the Summit is gradual with outstanding mountain panoramas of the Eastern Nepal Himalayas always in sight. The peaks visible include Mt. Everest (8,848m/29,029ft), Cho-Oyu (8,201m/26,906ft), Lhotse (8,516m/27,940ft), Makalu (8,463m/27,766ft), Kangchenjunga (8,586m/28,169ft), Nuptse (7,855m/25,770ft), Chamlang (7,319m/24,013ft) amongst many others. After the submit of Mera Peak trail maintain through demanding Mingbo La pass to classical Everest Base Camp path , you return to Lukla, from where you will fly back to Kathmandu.
